Nail Color Strategies

Here’s the thing. I’m not high maintenance. In fact, most days I leave the house with wet hair, let it air dry and wrap it in a top knot for most of the day, then just pull it down when it comes time for dinner or drinks later. I am lucky if I get mascara and lip balm on in the mornings. My face care routine consists of washing and SPF moisturizer. The end. The one thing I LOVE, though, is having my nails done. It just feels so pulled together. So, a manicure is a must-do for me right before I leave on a trip.

Here’s my strategy to keep my nails looking fly for 10-14 days:

1. Short nails. They don’t chip as easily.
2. Round, not oval, not square shape. They should look like little jewels. The more corners, the more chipping potential.
3. A slightly shimmery to very shimmery polish, maybe even a touch of glitter. This will last so much longer than any traditional polish.
4. Pack a nail polish remover wipe like this one by Cutex. The MINUTE your polish starts chipping, take it off. No one likes a raggedy manicure.

Some favorite lightly shimmery colors include:
OPI The World is Not Enough
OPI Pompeii Purple
OPI I’m Not Really a Waitress

That’s it! Your polish should look great for days – even weeks!
